| JAS Gripen 39-101 was also the first aircraft to flight-validate system integration with the Meteor air-to-air missile. Meteor is an active radar guided beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM). It is developed by the European joint venture MBDA. | ||||

JAS 39A # 39013 had flown
all its allowed hours in the air. After a long and reliable duty it is now
one of the gate-guards at Air Force Wing F 7 at Såtenäs. Note the all-grey painting and the markings in distinct colours. |
