Hönö Church in Bohuslän

  Hönö Church

Öckerö is a municipality in the archipelago outside Gothenburg consisting of ten inhabitated islands and a lot of smaller islands and islets. Öckerö is also the name of the parish. Hönö church is located on the island with the same name. The church was built in 1933-1934. As seen on the photo it is constructed of wood.
The church with contemporary furnishings are  characterized by simple, modern architectural style with features from different periods, mainly 1920s classicism. South of the tower were premises for the parochial work built integrated with the church. These were enlarged in 1962.

Hönö belongs to the Diocese of Göteborg (Gothenburg), the County of Västra Götaland and the Province of Bohuslän. Photo: Lars Henriksson, 3th of July, 2008.
