  Helicopter - Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo designed several helicopters; most of them intended to be powered by human muscles. But during the years he worked with the problem, he begin to understand that a machine must have a rapidly rotating wing at the top – and this have to be powered by some kind of mechanic power, for example a coiled spring like in a clockwork. His most famous helicopter is the one seen here below. In full scale operated by human power it would likely stay on the ground, but a model, with a clockwork engine could very well have flown.
