AJ 37 - SAAB 37 Viggen (1972- )

Page 5 (of 7)

All Swedish Air Force Wings have a site used for fire and rescue training. This fore body of an AJ 37 is used for training the moment to get a strapped and perhaps unconscious pilot out of the cockpit as soon as possible. The aircraft had probably the Air Force number 37087.

The AJ 37 on this photo and the photo at top is standing at the fire and rescue training station at Air Force Wing F 17 at Kallinge, Ronneby. It is from the beginning marked with a "7" at the nose, showing that this aircraft belonged to Air Force Wing F 7 at Såtenäs. The figure "1" before the "7" is just a joke. If this aeroplane really would be marked "17", the "1" would be of larger size.

This AJ 37 Viggen is standing at the Military Academy Halmstad MHS H (former F 14). It is used for training of reparations in the field. When active it carried the Air Force number 37047 and belonged to Air Force Wing F 7 at Såtenäs. The aircraft was delivered to the Air Force in 1974 and taken out of flying service in 1997 after almost 3 000 hours of flying time.
