SAAB A 32A Lansen used for testing of ejection seats

Lansen # 32080 was used in 1962-1963 for testing of ejection seats for J 35 Draken. The aircraft was fitted with measuring equipment and cameras for recording the tests.

Later, when this photo was taken, # 32080 was used for testing various equipment for the new SAAB 37 Viggen. An electronic pod is now fitted under the left wing and a 250 kg bomb under the right wing as a weight compensation. A camera is mounted forward of the extra fuel tank under the fuselage. Another camera - for recording the Head-Up-Display - can be seen at the front window.

The aircraft carried at this time the code "V-50".

Lansen # 32028 was received by the Air Force in 1956. It was supplied to Air Force Wing F 7 at Såtenäs. In 1960 it moved to the trial establishment at Malmen (FC = Försökscentralen). The black and white painting was applied to faciliate evaluation of filmed shooting tests. The aircraft was taken out of service in late 1985, about half a year after this photo was taken.
